2012 Treatment Episode Data Set-Admissions Released for Download and Online Analysis

TEDS-A is one component of the Behavioral Health Services Information System (BHSIS), maintained by the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ), SAMHSA. TEDS-A records annual admissions to substance abuse treatment facilities, primarily ones that receive public funding. Demographic information such as gender, race, ethnicity, education, and employment status, among others, are included in the data. Substances reported in TEDS-A include alcohol, cocaine and crack, marijuana and hashish, heroin, nonprescription methadone, other opiates and synthetics, stimulants, tranquilizers, sedatives, and over-the-counter medications, among others.

A sister data system, called TEDS-D, records discharges from treatment facilities. The 2011 TEDS-D data will be released over the course of the next few weeks.
